The start of Grimme production in China is scheduled for spring 2017.
With over 5 million hectares of potatoes China is the biggest potato producer worldwide and the Chinese government plans to extend it to 10 million hectare until 2020. But today only 20 % of the crop is harvested by machinery which shows a high potential for modern agricultural technology. For more than 5 years the family owned company of Grimme has had its own subsidiary in China, near Beijing employing over 40 people. For the long-term professional operation of the market Grimme is building, on a 3 hectare site, a 13000 sqm production factory and office building in the harbour city of Tianjin.Tiajin is about 80 km Southeast of Beijing. To achieve the high quality standard "Made by Grimme" as seen in Germany, the whole factory production will be equipped with the most modern facilities and all employees will take part in an intense training program. The start of the production in China is scheduled for spring 2017.
Christoph Grimme, 27 years of age and who has graduated as a Master of Business and Engineering will manage this important future project. "We are investing over 13 million Euro into this future market and I am delighted that our son, Christoph, will manage this important project", said Franz Grimme.
