New self-propelled harvester from Grimme

New 4-row self-propelled harvester from Grimme
Damme, November-12, 2012 – In 2011 Grimme launched the 4-row self-propelled potato harvester VARITRON 470 with rubber tracks, one of the most powerful harvester in the king class. For customers  trusting in the many advantages of this machine but who are looking for a less expensive machine, Grimme has enlarged the range of four row harvesters with a wheeled version. The whole chassis construction is designed for high agility and reduced soil compaction. The inner turning radius is only 6 meter. +/- 60° steering angle of the front axle and +/-20° of the rear axle with 900 / 60 R32 tyres takes the machine to the most agile one in its class.

New is the overloading 7 tonnes capacity bunker which enables constantly a maximum use of the bunker volume. Normally after the trailer is full and the overloading stops the remaining crop stays on the unloading elevator so that the full bunker volume can not be realised. The bunker capacity cannot be used to its full potential in these circumstances so Grimme has designed a new system. With the new designed rotating bunker elevator and the active side walls the problem is overcome by the bunker elevator reversing to return the crop into the bunker. As a positive result is that the remaining crop acts as cushions and reduces the drop height for the following crop. Another positive effect is the fast bunker emptying in only 30 seconds which is much quicker as with the traditional systems. The bunker is also available for the VARITRON 470 fitted with rubber tracks.

With four 2-row and three 4-row self-propelled harvesters Grimme offers the widest range in this section.
